Question 1: What season did you join the club?

I grew up doing Nippers with Woolamai from 2007/2008 season, began patrolling in the 2012/13 season as an SRC and completed my bronze in the 2015/2016 season.

Question 2: Why did you become involved in Surf Life Saving?

I became involved in Surf Life Saving through the Nippers program and continued through to complete my SRC and bronze. All our group of nippers continued through as well to do bronze camp and I always had a great time hanging around my friends so I loved the culture about being around the lifesaving club. Having a passion for the ocean I wanted to ensure that anyone who came to the beach went home safely and had a great time.

Question 3: What keeps you coming back every season?

The people. I love the community around me. To me there is nothing better than hanging on the beach with the best people while keeping people safe around water.

Question 4: Who were/are your mentors in Surf Life Saving?

Everyone around me at the lifesaving club continue to inspire me to keep improving myself. I have always looked up to Michael Sullivan, his knowledge, leadership and skills is something I truly admire. I also look up to Kat Turner. This beautiful lady has taught me so much from when I was an 8 year old nipper all the way through to the end of nippers where she was our Nipper Age Manager. She trained me in both SRC and Bronze courses as well as the Bass District Lifesaving Development Camp. Kat helped me become the lifesaver I am today and I am so grateful for what she has taught me over the years.

Question 5: What do you love most about being a Surf Life Saver at Woolamai Beach SLSC?

I love the challenge of the ever changing conditions at Woolamai and the skills to adapt. I love the community and the passion associated with being a Surf Life Saver at Woolamai Beach. I love the ocean the the rhythm of it and swimming in time to it. I love learning new skills from those around me and the feeling of saving one’s life.
