What season did you join the club?

I joined Woolamai Beach SLSC in the 2018/2019 season.

Why did you become involved in Surf Life Saving?

I actually got involved in Surf Life Saving through my school, Koo Wee Rup Secondary College. I was part of the first “Surf Bronze” camp that my school ran at Woolamai. Max Eldridge (a teacher at my school and Woolamai’s Director of Lifesaving services) got my school involved with Woolamai and needless to say I am very grateful that he did such a thing for us

What keeps you coming back every season?

I’ve only been at the club for 1 season but because the season has come to an end... I now think what will draw me back to the club for the next season. And that is pretty much everything about the club. Woolamai is a place where I forget about everything in my normal day to day life and one of the few places where I have true fun. All the toys we have at the club draws me down every weekend and last but definitely not least… the people. The people at Woolamai make me laugh and love privilege I have of being at this awesome place!

Who were/are your mentors in Surf Life Saving?

I have a few mentors in Surf Life Saving, but my favourite 2 are probably... Jesse Heymann, our current mobile equipment officer. And Max Eldridge, our current Director of Lifesaving services. I look up to Jesse because he is an all round great bloke… everyone loves Jesse, he is a splendid IRB driver and his roles in the club are cool. Max Edridge, Max is actually a teacher at my school. Max taught me in year 8 and ever since then I have always wanted to grow up to be like him. Max is a man that truly blows my mind, ever since he taught me he’s always been a person I know who will guide me through moments that challenge me. I have learnt a lot of stuff about Lifesaving from Max. The leadership and ability to coordinate tasks (such as rescues) that Max displays is very inspirational and is something I would love to learn off him or learn to do. If it weren’t for Max, I wouldn’t know half the stuff I know about this wonderful association.

What do you love most about being a Surf Life Saver at Woolamai Beach SLSC?

If I answered this normally I could not give an answer but if I had to say something… I’d say the people of Woolamai Beach SLSC are what I love most about being at this fantastic club. If I had to choose a person I like most at Woolamai… you guessed it, Max. There’s so much I could say about him. However, everyone at the club is awesome. They are all friendly, fun and they all radiate positive energy. We are at Woolamai to fulfill a voluntary job, but in the time we are doing our “job”, we have the time of our lives!
