Sustainability Committee

As surf life savers, we have a duty to serve and protect our community, but we also have an opportunity to protect the country we stand upon. Pristine Woolamai is a special place – particularly for it’s traditional custodians, the Bunurong people.

We envisage a club that gives back to the natural environments that we love, doing our bit to protect them. With this in mind, the sustainability group has developed a series of long-term goals. These centre around becoming a net-zero emissions club by 2027 and engaging the club’s membership and broader community in sustainable actions.

In the short term, the sustainability group continues to make structural and behavioural changes to reduce electricity, water and gas consumption. The ongoing development of an effective waste management system will reduce our contribution to landfill.

We hope to host regular social events throughout the season for our members – can’t wait to see you there! If you would like to get involved please join the Woolamai Beach Sustainability group on Facebook by clicking HERE or contact Louise on 0488 676 171.

Keep Australia Beautiful Week 2021 was between the 16th and 22nd of August.

Led by our wonderful members from the Sustainability Committee, on Friday August the 27th a group of our regional members cleaned up our lovely beach while metro members cleaned up their local communities.
