Silver Medallion Aquatic Rescue (SMAR)

Members will be contacted via email regarding conducting a pre-requisite swim. Those who hold their Gold Medallion will automatically be signed off as they have achieved an 800m swim in 14 minute or less (400m in 7min approx).

Advance Resuscitation Techniques (ART)

The maintenance of award currency for CPR, First Aid and Advanced Resuscitation (ART) has proven confusing for several years.

The ART award is separated in 2 parts:

  • SLSA Award

  • Nationally Accredit Course (which has a unit of competency)

The table below is a reminder of the minimum requirements to maintain currency in these important awards. The table shows what a member receives when they undertake the initial training (a course) and the re-qual requirement covering courses and Skills Maintenance activities

To assist members to retain their unit of competency, a Resuscitation course has been created on both Saturday and Sunday prior to Skills Maintenance commencing.

To book into the Resuscitation course, please login to the Training Portal and follow the steps here.

Remember to complete the Online Learning prior to the course commencing otherwise you will not be allowed on the course.

Side-By-Side Vehicle (SSV)

Members who hold this award will be contacted via email by the training team

Inflatable Rescue Boat Crew/Driver (IRBC/IRBD)

Woolamai Beach SLSC prefer anyone who holds the IRBD award, to conduct an assessment at Woolamai due to the diverse nature of the beach and the conditions it presents.

Members who compete their IRBD skills maintenance at another beach will need to re-do the assessment at Woolamai before conducting any IRB training.

This is an internal decision made by the Director of Lifesaving Service and Director of Member Development to ensure the safety of our members and the public.
