Director of Member Development

The Director of Membership Development is responsible for overseeing all training and member development activities within Woolamai Beach SLSC.

Chief Instructor

The Chief Instructor is the lead training representative at the club who has overall responsibility for the coordination of all training and assessment activities within the club. Responsibilities and duties include:

  • Oversee the development and training programs for members to gain patrol awards

  • Maintain current knowledge of award requirements and up-to-date training techniques 

  • Reviewing and actively promote youth development and leadership programs within the club

  • Liaise between LSV training staff/volunteer members 

  • Maintain active communication between club trainers and assessors 

  • Organise & run a skills maintenance weekend at the start of the season

Vice Chief Instructor

The Vice Chief Instructor is responsible for assisting the Chief Instructor with the organisation of training courses and development of trainers, assessors and facilitators (TAF’s). Responsibilities and duties include: 

  • Ensuring that the club has sufficient qualified members to patrol efficiently 

  • Encouraging all members to gain lifesaving skills and obtain further awards 

  • Promote and assist club trainers in the gaining of trainer and assessor awards

  • Assist with the organisation of skills maintenance weekend 

  • Ensure that all trainers, assessors & facilitators (TAF’s) are current 

  • Monitor the training email for club/external enquiries

Trainers/Assessors/Facilitators (TAF’s)

(Trainee Trainer): A member who holds a TOC, rather than a full TAE and wishes to train accredited courses. These members are required to operate under a supervisory model to ensure quality and compliance requirements are met.train independently, whilst others will be required to train under supervision.

Trainers are members who are qualified and/or otherwise authorised to deliver training activities on behalf of Life Saving Victoria (LSV) for accredited training and/or lifesaving awards.

Assessors are Members who are qualified and/or otherwise authorised to oversee assessment activities on behalf of LSV for accredited training and/or lifesaving awards.

Facilitators are Members who are qualified and/or otherwise authorised to oversee training and assessment activities on behalf of LSV for accredited training and/or lifesaving awards.


Member Development Team

Manager of Member Development

The manager of Member Development is responsible for coordinating and promoting member development activities within the club. The manager of member development will also work closely with the manager of member retention to create programs for members throughout the offseason to retain members skills and training. Responsibilities and duties include:

  • Creating development sessions in particular areas to boost members skills and knowledge

  • Organising masterclass sessions improving members skills in a range of different environments.

  • Promoting a range of pathways for members to pursue, both internal within the club and external within Life Saving Victoria.

  • Liaising between other clubs and LSV to boost relationships with joint development sessions.
