WBSLSC Comms Update
We have hit the ground running this year to get all the Wooli Comms sorted going into this season.
Nic Frances Gilley - Club Secretary - has received extensive feedback around the Wooli website being a labyrinth of dated information, and operations is faltering due to a lack of clear club-wide communication. As one of his first moves in his new position, he has made club communications priority one and allocated Jackson & Jas to manage the website.
Website - Jackson Sinclair to clean up navigation and update key information on the website.
Blogs - Jas Kuerschner to ensure ongoing news & information is current
After the club’s AGM, Ryan Andreola is the new Director of Member Engagement and Wellbeing Officer, and he kickstarted his reign with a Communications forum held over last weekend, where we came together in search of better communication systems.
FB Groups
Years ago, Facebook groups were the holy grail when it came to cross-generational club-wide communication. Due to a combination of issues, those golden years are no more. Depending on who you are, our Facebook member groups are either government-sanctioned, deleted from our devices, or lost in noisy social feeds. Our club/patrol FB groups are still up, but we are moving to a new and proven App that can reunite the club.
Wooli Comms
Wooli Leaders, Board Members, Events & Communications Teams came together to discuss how to best communicate with all members.
Physical meetings - not practical
Phone Calling - too time-consuming
Emails - unreliable for timely engagement
Website - needs updating and better navigation (in the works)
Facebook Groups - no longer serving its purpose
We explored 3 Apps as the new FG members group.
WhatsApp
Had potential. Most have it already downloaded and regularly use it. However, with club-wide engagement, it would be messy and overwhelming.
Stack TeamApp
This app has some of the features the club required and was set up last year thanks to Erin & Jordan. But it wasn’t widely adopted and lacks a couple of important features.
Band
This App has all the features we required (emergency push notifications, events, etc.) and has the look and feel of a Facebook Group… and is no cost to the club.
New Comms
The club has made the decision to get behind Band App as our new communications system for members.
If you're an active member, jump on the band wagon and download Band App today.
