Learn the skills and knowledge to effectively crew an Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) in surf rescue operations
+ Course Details
You will be taught the skills and knowledge to safely: crew an IRB
- Prepare the components of an IRB and auxiliary equipment
- Contribute to the safe and efficient launching of an IRB
- Identify the components of an IRB hull & motor
- Safely and efficiently negotiate the surf while crewing in an IRB
- Demonstrate safe crewing positions while negotiating the surf
- Identify hazards and risks and clearly communicate them to the driver
- Perform rescues, including conscious and unconscious casualty pick-ups
- Perform emergency procedures
+ Course Requirements
- You must be a current financial member of Woolamai Beach SLSC
- You must be at least 15 years of age on the date of final assessment to gain the IRBC award.
Hold the following SLSA awards:
- Bronze Medallion
