Advanced Resuscitation Techniques

“Learn the skills and knowledge to use oxygen, airway management devices and automated defibrillator during resuscitation, and to administer oxygen to conscious or unconscious breathing casualties”


The aim of this course is to provide you with the skills and knowledge to manage emergency first aid situations until professional medical support is available. On successful completion, you will receive a First Aid Certificate and a statement of attainment for units of competency.

+ Course Outcomes

By the end of this course you should be able to:

  • respond to an emergency situation
  • perform primary (DRSABCD) and secondary (vital signs) assessment of a victim
  • perform advanced resuscitation, including use of oxygen equipment, oropharyngeal airways and suction
  • communicate details of an incident
  • complete documentation
  • evaluate an incident and your own performance
  • restore equipment ready for use.

+ Pre-requisites

  • You must be a current financial member of Woolamai Beach SLSC
  • You must be at least 15 years of age on the date of final assessment

+ Qualifications

  • SLSA Award: Advanced Resuscitation Techniques (AID)
  • National Qualifications:
    • HLTAID009: Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
    • HLTAID015: Provide Advanced Resuscitation Techniques

+ Skills Maintenance

  • Not included in Skills Maintenance
  • Must renew ART every 3 Years via a full course or update course
  • Must renew Resuscitation/CPR (HLTAID001) every 12 months
